I watched Melancholia but i didn’t really like it, just because i really don’t like the director Lars Von Trier. He directed that proper weird film called The Antichrist which i told you about and his style is just so weird and everything is like a massive metaphor that doesn’t really make much sense.
But yeah the woman is reaaally strange. The ending isn’t really what you’d expect like, dunno what to make of the end actually…I’m reading this guys article on it right now, and apparently at sundance some guy stood up screaming ‘this is a disgrace, this degrades women, its disgusting, this film maker is sick!’ I’m guessing it’s about how the people who are supposed to be civilised are actually the disgusting ones with no moral compass. That and the plot words are mostly ‘rape scene, assult..’
I want to watch melancholia but half dont at the same time.. it looks visually stunning but the plot doesnt really interest me. Yeah i remember you saying about the director, his style seems a bit weird.
whaat? the article was about The Woman? because i don’t see how it degrades women…it’s directed by a woman (im sure) and it definitely shows men coming across as animalistic and brutal, which is ironic as that is what the woman is meant to represent.
